Anxiety Therapy in Toowong & Brisbane

Support for anxiety, worry, and overwhelming stress.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health challenges people experience. While some level of anxiety is a natural part of life, ongoing or intense worry can begin to affect how you think, feel, and function in everyday situations. At Lumaura Psychology in Toowong, registered psychologist Mike Spiller provides thoughtful and evidence-based support for people experiencing anxiety across Brisbane and surrounding areas.

Anxiety can show up in many ways — persistent worry, racing thoughts, difficulty relaxing, physical tension, or feeling constantly on edge. Therapy provides a supportive space to better understand what is driving these feelings and develop practical strategies to help you regain a sense of balance and control.

Sessions are available in person at our Toowong psychology space or via Telehealth for clients across Brisbane and Queensland

About

Anxiety Therapy with Mike Spiller

Mike Spiller is a registered psychologist in Toowong who has supported individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, and life challenges across both public and private settings in Queensland and New Zealand.

His approach to therapy is warm, thoughtful, and grounded in experience. Mike works collaboratively with clients to create a safe and supportive space where anxiety can be explored with curiosity and understanding, helping people move toward greater confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural human response that helps us prepare for potential challenges. When this response becomes heightened or ongoing, however, it can begin to affect how we think, feel, and respond to everyday situations.

Many people experiencing anxiety describe persistent worry, difficulty quieting their thoughts, or physical symptoms such as tension, restlessness, fatigue, or disrupted sleep. Over time, these patterns can make it harder to feel relaxed, confident, or present.

Working with a psychologist can help you better understand the processes driving anxiety while developing practical approaches that support a greater sense of calm and emotional balance.

How Therapy Can Help

Many people find that anxiety becomes easier to manage when they gain a clearer understanding of the patterns behind it. Therapy focuses on building this understanding while developing practical tools to help you respond to stress, worry, and uncertainty in healthier ways.

Mike offers an integrative and evidence-based approach, drawing on therapeutic models such as ACT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing where appropriate. Sessions are collaborative and paced to support steady, sustainable progress toward greater calm, confidence, and wellbeing.
