Understanding Relationship Patterns in Individual Therapy
Support to help you understand patterns, improve communication, and build healthier connections.
Relationship difficulties can have a significant impact on your wellbeing. You might feel stuck in repeating patterns, find it hard to express your needs, struggle with trust or closeness, or feel overwhelmed when conflict arises. These experiences often stem from deeper attachment dynamics, past relationships, or long-standing beliefs about yourself and others.
Lumaura Psychology provides support for individuals navigating relationship challenges across Brisbane, with a focus on clients in Kenmore, Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly, Brookfield, Taringa, Bardon, Toowong, and surrounding western suburbs. All sessions are delivered via secure Telehealth for privacy and flexibility.
How We Support Relationship & Attachment Concerns in Brisbane
How We Support Relationship & Attachment Concerns
Our approach explores the emotional, behavioural, and relational patterns that influence how you connect with others.
-
Explore the “parts” of yourself that show up in relationships—protective parts, reactive parts, and vulnerable parts—and learn how to relate to them with compassion.
-
Build skills to respond more effectively during conflict, set boundaries, and communicate your needs clearly.
-
Process past relational experiences, including betrayal, rejection, or childhood dynamics that may influence current relationships.

Is This Type of Therapy Right for You?
Relationship-focused therapy may be helpful if you’re experiencing repeating conflict or communication breakdowns, difficulty expressing your needs or emotions, fear of abandonment, rejection, or closeness, or patterns of withdrawing, shutting down, or becoming overwhelmed. It can also support challenges in forming or sustaining relationships, low self-worth that affects how you show up with others, and lingering effects from past relationships or family experiences. You don’t need to be in a current relationship to benefit — many people seek therapy to better understand themselves and the dynamics they bring into their connections.
What to Expect in Your Sessions
You’ll have a warm, supportive space to explore the patterns shaping your relationships. Sessions involve collaborative exploration, practical tools for communication and emotional regulation, and strategies to help you navigate challenges with greater clarity. Over time, therapy aims to deepen your self-awareness, strengthen your sense of worth, and support healthier, more meaningful connections.
